Breakout Room chatting and Padlet video exchange with KNU Middle School in Daegu, Korea, for our sister school partnership
With two Zoom
exchange sessions on May 4 and June 9, my ICE students and I had fun meeting
our Korean counterparts online. Ms. Han and I encouraged our students to
introduce themselves and share their hobbies and school life during the
breakout room sessions. Many of them shouted "Yes" to the question, "Did you enjoy the exchange?"
Padlet video
exchange will also help promote the use of English and mutual understanding.
Students can show off the beauty of their schools, hometowns, and talents by
uploading their homemade videos and leaving comments down below on the
platform. Maybe it'll be the start of a friendship. Who knows?
KMJH and KNUMS started a sister school partnership back in 2019 with the signing of the MOU. A delegation of Korean students visited KMJH and experienced homestay and learning with their Taiwanese friends later the same year. However, with the COVID pandemic in early 2020, we had to suspend our school visit to Korea but have continued with virtual exchanges since then.
Ms. Han and I planned on doing more
virtual exchanges next semester. For the 8th graders, however, today was the
last chance to speak with the sister school students because they're about to
move on to the 9th grade, overwhelmed with endless tests and homework. I hope
they'd remember all the international exchange sessions for the past two years
then.
