Taiwan-California Classroom Connect Part Two: Teddy Bear Project

Cultural exchange and international collaboration offer valuable opportunities for students to broaden their perspectives and forge meaningful connections. At KMJH, we are proud participants in the Taiwan-California Classroom Connect (TCCC), an MOE-funded project that promotes global partnerships. An exciting aspect of our collaboration is the Teddy bear exchange program, featuring our beloved school mascot, Kuang-Ming Little Bear.

Sharing School Life and Taichung

To provide our partners at Blue Lake Union Elementary a glimpse into our daily lives, we engaged in a creative endeavor: keeping English diaries with Kuang-Ming Little Bear. Through these diaries, we expressed ourselves creatively while showcasing our school community and the vibrant city of Taichung.

Guided Writing for Effective Communication

To enhance my ICE students' communication skills, I offered a structured framework with target sentences. This approach empowered them to share their experiences with clarity and precision. The framework covered various aspects of a typical school day, including the school's history, location, observations, activities, and emotions.

Meaningful Exchanges and Human Connections

The hand-written diaries and photos featuring Kuang-Ming Little Bear added a personal touch to our end product. These elements fostered a genuine connection between our students and their counterparts at Blue Lake Union Elementary. We eagerly anticipate their reactions upon receiving the compiled package.

The Kuang-Ming Little Bear diary project has provided a platform for us to share our school life, traditions, and the charm of Taichung with our American partners. By embracing cultural exchange, we equip our students with the skills and empathy needed for the interconnected world. Through collaborations like these, we foster global awareness and nurture the next generation of global citizens.
